The catalog it’s a communication product with a strong presence in the fashion world, it reflects the excellence of each collection and brand image. It appears that the objective criteria for evaluating the catalogs have not yet been the target of a deep and structured analysis, despite the importance they have for companies in the clothes sector. So, in this thesis we studied the elements that define the level of aesthetics, semiotics and graphic catalogs of clothing. We have analyzed national and international brand catalogs in the fashion industry, whose quality is recognized by professional designers. As a result of this study was created Matrix AQC - Matrix Quality Evaluation Catalogs Products and Matrix AQC - Matrix Quality Evaluation Catalogs Image.

Understanding the difficulties of leadership in the context of social entrepreneurship

Female leadership is a new perspective on leadership, as they seek to bring their intrinsic characteristics to the organizational environment. This research aims to verify the difficulties of female leadership, based on the theoretical assumptions that women face in the context of social entrepreneurship. The research is descriptive with a qualitative approach and field research strategy. The data was collected through interviews with representatives of two Brazilian companies based in the state of Ceará. The results reveal that the discrimination faced by women when they are in strategic positions is a recurring fact in the job market, even more so as they are part of a patriarchal society, particularly in Brazil. It is concluded that women still find themselves in an unfavorable environment, which is unaware of their potential, as well as the ability to overcome already exhausted business and organizational models.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Revisiting Strategy and Performance Concepts in the Strategy Tripod Framework

    Get PDF
The association between Strategy and Financial Performance is commonly used in scientific research. However, the dichotomy between deliberate and emergent strategies, although already discussed by several researchers, does not have a consensus in the literature. Also, the predominant practice in the academy investigates the financial perspective of performance and usually does not consider its plural aspects. Based on this reflection, this theoretical study discusses gaps in Peng's et al. (2009) strategy framework focusing on Strategy and Performance. As a result, we propose a review of the strategy framework, incorporating four strategic stages (deliberate, delibergent, emergent, and emergerate) and plural performance. We also propose methodological research that can be performed in business strategy.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

In the context of the fashion market, this study aims to analyze opinion leadership and, specifically, to verify the correlation that may exist between opinion leadership, fashion innovativeness and attitude towards fashion advertising. It is also intended to identify two different consumer groups: opinion leaders and fashion followers based on “opinion leadership” construct. Data collection was done through a self-administered questionnaire with a convenience sample of 203 graduate and postgraduate students of two universities of Porto, the second major city of Portugal. Results show a positive correlation between fashion innovativeness, fashion opinion leadership, and attitude towards fashion advertising. It was possible to identify two groups of consumers: fashion influencers, who exhibit a moderate sense of innovativeness and a positive attitude towards fashion advertising; and fashion followers who don’t consider themselves neither innovators nor opinion leaders, but have a moderate positive attitude towards fashion advertising.

Towards a Unified Virtual Business Incubator Model: A Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis

    Get PDF
Virtual business incubators have been highlighted for their positive impacts in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in several business areas, contributing to sustainable economic growth and social development. However, despite their crucial roles, previous literature emphasizes that research concerning their business models has been largely ignored, and several important issues are still unaddressed. This article aims to contribute to filling this gap and advancing this field by providing the first bibliometric and systematic literature review, as far as the authors know, concerning virtual business incubator models. The main results reveal the following: that academic production is relatively new, fragmented, and develops under a diversity of research paths; the analyzed models (n = 12) have only some dimensions in common and are proposed based on three different perspectives (business organization and management, information and communication systems, and user experience); there is not a virtual business incubator model more suitable to support digital businesses or startups creation. Based on the results, it is argued that there is a need to further develop a model towards a unified virtual business incubator by actively involving different stakeholders during its design. This research can help managers, academics, and other professionals interested in running virtual business incubator programs.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Get PDF
Data generation is currently expanding at an astonishing pace, and the function of marketing is becoming increasingly sophisticated and customized. Companies seek to understand their internal corporate environment and externalities and to exponentially enhance their marketing power. This study aims to understand the influence of Big data analysis on digital marketing. The methodologies used to approach this issue were: (a) a systematic literature review based on articles dated between 2014 and 2020; and (b) a bibliometric analysis of articles dated between 2000 and 2020 using the software VOSviewer. The literature review allowed us to conclude that in the next decades, the business world in general, and marketing in particular, will define more oriented strategies based on a more profound knowledge of consumer behavior. Artificial intelligence agents driven by machine learning methods, technology, and Big data will be a conditioning factor in defining these strategiesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Comfortable but Not Brilliant: Exploring the Incubation Experience of Founders of Technology-Based Startups

    Get PDF
Business incubators have been highlighted as vital contributors and value-creation organizations to entrepreneurs during their venture developments by offering them multiple resources and specialized support. Notwithstanding, several authors call attention to the significant literature gap concerning research focusing on entrepreneurs’ daily lived incubation experiences to understand their perspectives on incubators. This study aims to explore which aspects are perceived as creating value or limiting the venture development of 16 founders of technology-based startups by interviewing them. Ultimately, it contributes valuable insights about incubation factors that enhance or hinder their overall incubation experience. It suggests that entrepreneurs consider intangible resources and social and relational aspects as the most enriching dimensions of their incubation experiences and concludes with the services they consider to be more important. Moreover, it also reveals negative aspects of the incubation experience, mostly related to the nonregular periodicity of mentoring sessions, training events provided by external entities, and issues while using services provided by external incubators’ partners. Several recommendations for enhancing the incubation experience, managerial implications, and opportunities for further research are discussed.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The purpose of this paper is to study the identity creation of a city and the way the city is perceived by people who attend an annual cultural event - Fantasporto. The results revealed that the identification of the group with the event and the way it experiences the city takes that identity and the celebration into the characterization of the city. By creating a particular form of experiencing life in the city they become part of a tribe and the image of the city connected to the event acts as a city identifier for Oporto

Goji berries superfood – contributions for the characterisation of proteome and IgE-binding proteins

Goji berries’ bioactive compounds, which allowed classifying them as superfruits, led to an enormous increase of its consumption in western countries. However, the potential risk of allergy is a concern. In this study, we aimed to characterise the proteome of goji berries (Lycium barbarum) and identify proteins with putative role in the allergic reaction (IgE-binding proteins). We firstly used twodimensional (2D) gel electrophoresis followed by mass spectrometry (MS) to characterise goji berries’ proteome, and then Immunoblot reactivity with plasma from tomato and potato (same botanical family, Solanaceae) allergic individuals was assessed to characterise goji berries IgE-binding proteins. An inhibition assay was further performed to evaluate cross-reactivity among potato, tomato and goji berries. We significantly identified 93 out of the 180 MS analysed spots, corresponding to 29 protein functions. From these, 11 could be identified as goji berries IgE-binding proteins. We further demonstratedcross-reactivity between goji berries, tomato and potato. This work was supported by research unit GREEN-IT “Bioresources for Sustainability” (UID/Multi/04551/2013).
